Brandon Mychal Smith didn’t compete on Skating With the Stars last week after being rushed to the hospital. This week it appears he’s dropped out of the ABC reality TV competition altogether. For more on Brandon’s figuring skating status keep reading.
After experiencing shortness of breath and throwing up at the Skating With the Stars rehearsal last week, the “Sonny With a Chance” star Brandon Mychal Smith was taken to the hospital and forced to skip performing live for the judges and audience. Despite his absence, the judges viewed and scored his rehearsal tape with partner Keauna McLaughlin. Even though those scores weren’t up to his high standards thus far, mostly due to judge Johnny Weir docking Brandon Smith for not showing up despite his illness, they were high enough to keep him in the competition. Unfortunately, that’s still not enough to keep him on the ABC reality TV show, as TMZ is reporting that the Disney star has pulled out of Skating with the Stars for the rest of the season.
Although Brandon’s illness was deemed food poisoning last week, TMZ reports that he has not been officially diagnosed, as test results are still pending. They also cite sources who tell them the youngest Skating With the Stars contestant is weak and barely able to stand.
With Brandon’s sudden departure, that leaves just three competitors left on Skating with the Stars: All My Children’s Rebecca Budig, Olympic skier Jonny Moseley and The Real Housewives of New York City’s Bethenny Frankel. Will Brandon’s absence bring a previously eliminated skater back? Or will Skating With the Stars go on with the last three celebrities standing? Tune into ABC tonight at 8:00 pm to find out.
